We may be out of the van, but we still love stories of GO. If you have something to share, or want to recommend places we should go next email us. nationofgotour@nationofgo.com »
D & P Classic Chevy’s Huntington Beach shop is right around the corner from Rich Evans’ place. So when we were planning the Nation of GO Tour meet-up there everyone agreed that Darryl Nance and his crew should come over for the cookout.
Darryl indulged us by bringing a few of his better-known cars, including the wild Yella Jacket Chevelle. We were already familiar with the Yella Jacket. D & P brought it to Las Vegas in August for the KDW Shotgun Challenge, where unsuspecting non-enthusiasts were getting thrill rides on BFGoodrich g-Force KDW tires. While we had them there, we shot footage of tire-smoking goodness with the Yella Jacket and made the video below.
The latest creation from D & P is the ’69 Camaro Road Rocket. Freshly built for this year’s SEMA show, the Road Rocket arrived at our meet-up with 17 miles on the clock. We liked it immediately. The car had a mean, purposeful stance reminiscent of early Trans-Am racecars. It’s no wonder, either. With help from people like the Kyle and Stacy Tucker at Detroit Speed, the modern underpinnings of D & P’s latest project are more in line with the racecars of today. The tires and brakes alone give it away, it will never be a sleeper.
That said, the Road Rocket doesn’t scream for attention and we liked the understated presentation. Silver paint. Simple pinstripe graphics. Nothing giving away its supercar performance. Darryl Nance said he likes that it’s not flashy. We think “not flashy” may be just the thing to help D & P stand out at SEMA.
