We may be out of the van, but we still love stories of GO. If you have something to share, or want to recommend places we should go next email us. nationofgotour@nationofgo.com »
George Lange’s passion for cars goes all the way back to childhood when, like most enthusiasts, he loved to play with toy cars. George was a Matchbox collector and stepping into his private garage in St. Louis, MO, it’s obvious that he never grew out of collecting cars. Read More
The Nation of GO Tour has driven many hours to meet up with locals at most of our stops, but that wasn’t the case when we drove to Superlift ORV Park outside of Hot Springs, AR. The group we were meeting had driven in, too – five hours from Tulsa, OK – and when we were done they were driving back. They felt our pain.
Sam Patton from Sam’s Offroad Equipment made the trip with some friends to give us a taste of off-roading like we hadn’t yet seen. Our previous off-road excursions were with four-wheelers in the desert. The Superlift ORV Park could never be mistaken for desert. Read More
BFGoodrich Tires has lots of great friends. Whenever you need someone to go fast or burn rubber, it’s not hard to find a little help. For example, this summer eight different shops brought cars to the KDW Shotgun Challenge in Las Vegas. With so many of them along our way, the Nation of GO Tour decided to check back in with the teams. It has become a reunion trip of sorts. Read More
Traveling around with BFGoodrich Tires, we’ve met all kinds of off-roaders – rock crawlers, desert racers, weekend wheelers. Until we caught up with Todd Pope and his Expeditioneers club in Phoenix, though, we didn’t know a lot about off-road expeditions. Brian McVickers from Overland Journal came out to meet us too, and help explain this unique brand of wheeled adventure.
From what we heard, they draw on the same inspiration as many off-roaders – “Because-it’s-there.” But instead of an overcoming an obstacle, or a navigating a trail, they’re interested in traversing the better part of a continent. Read More
All around Austin, TX, you see stickers encouraging you to Keep Austin Weird. Driving through town with the gang from Austin Speed Shop you feel like you’re doing your part.
We headed out into the Austin streets with a caravan that included rockabilly guys, roller derby gals and at least one vintage hot rod with a four-foot shifter that was taller than the car’s windshield. Topped with a skull for a shift knob, it was straight from the wild hot rod art of Ed “Big Daddy” Roth. Read More
Rob Hyde and Duane Shaw of OL’Skool 4X4 are retired U.S. Army Sergeants First Class who spend their free time off-roading in the desert around El Paso, TX. They both work in civilian roles for the Army now at Ft. Bliss, where they stay connected to the military community through their hobby. We spent a day four-wheeling with OL’Skool and found out that Duane and Rob use their Jeeps to help support local soldiers and their families.
One way is by taking the children of deployed soldiers out for trail rides. It’s the kind of weekend experience kids would love to share with their moms or dads, of course, but thanks to OL’Skool they don’t have to miss out completely. OL’Skool also reaches out directly to servicemen and women on base. Read More
Ride Tech’s Bret Voelkel has a heavy right foot. So when you ask to him to bring out a few cars from the company’s “toy garage,” as they call it, you’re not going to see pampered trailer queens. Bret and his crew are more than willing to burn some rubber. Read More
On the way out of Phoenix, the Nation of GO Tour stopped by Firebird International Raceway for Friday Night Drags. It was “Run What Ya Brung” night and we definitely wanted to run. The obvious choice for the strip was our WORKS-tuned Lancer Sportback. But since we promised Mitsubishi we wouldn’t track the car, we went with the next best option. Read More
