Trophy Trucks – Kings of the Desert

Sep 25, 2009

image

From their unassuming shop in Phoenix, AZ, Geiser Bros Design and Development turns out about half of the top trophy trucks in off-road racing. They handle every part of fabrication except the drive train. Starting with steel tubing at one end of the shop, they roll out complete race-ready trophy trucks at the other.

The Geiser Bros are Geoff and Rick Geiser, who co-own the shop. They’re racers themselves so they build their own trucks, as well as trucks for top racers. Geoff was in the shop the day we visited and showed us some trophy trucks in progress, including one being readied for custom bike builder Jesse James.

2010 Lancer Sportback Ralliart

Sep 24, 2009

image

About a week before the Nation of GO Tour began, we realized that seven of us were never going to make it across the country in just one van. Not without killing each other. Lucky for us, Mitsubishi stepped in to help with a 2010 Lancer Sportback Ralliart. We designated it our chase vehicle and, since it hasn’t been released yet, we’ve been able to give a lot of enthusiasts their first look at the car along our way.

Sideways Glances

Sep 22, 2009

Two days into our road trip, the Nation of GO Tour visited WORKS Motorsports at Infineon Raceway in Northern California. We were there to get an ECU upgrade for the Lancer and new set of KDW tires for our trip.

Lots of local enthusiasts were there too for Saturday at the track. WORKS served everyone lunch and then set up an autocross course in the Infineon paddock. Anybody who wanted to could take their cars out for just $5. Of course everyone lined up for a turn.

Not-So-Tough Guy

Sep 22, 2009

The Nation of GO Tour van made one last stop in L.A. at Huntington Beach Bodyworks. Owner Rich Evans had a few friends over for brats and burgers, including Speed Channel’s Gordon “Lugnutz” Stewart and D & P Classic Chevy, who have their shop in the neighborhood. Rich’s daughters were there rolling around on scooters. And we met his wife Patricia, who we thought might be a little upset with us there for a while.

In Search of GO – Gateway Classic Mustang

Sep 22, 2009

Over the past year, a BFG film crew has traveled the country – and Baja Mexico – In Search of GO. Just like our crew is doing now, the small documentary team went out to find people who share a passion for cars and driving.

As the Nation of GO Tour gets ready to visit Gateway Classic Mustang, in Saint Louis, MO, we thought we’d share this video from the KDW Shotgun Challenge in Las Vegas. Jason Childress brought Gateway’s 1968 Mustang to help give unsuspecting passengers the ride of their lives on KDW tires.

Fashion Fast-Forward

Sep 21, 2009

Until the Nation of GO Tour met automotive stylist RJ de Vera, not one of the car guys we talked to mentioned taking inspiration from fashion. But that’s not to say fashion isn’t a part of the GO culture. Styles come and go on four wheels just like they do on fashion runways. Maybe not quite as often.

In Search of GO – Area BFE

Sep 18, 2009

Over the past year, a BFG film crew has traveled the country – and Baja Mexico – In Search of GO. Just like our crew is doing now, the small documentary team went out to find people who share a passion for cars and driving.

As the Nation of GO Tour heads for off-road adventures in the Southwest, we wanted to share this video from Moab. It was shot at Area BFE with top off-road racers Shannon Campbell, Brad and Roger Lovell, and Joachim Schewiesow using their professional racing rigs purely for recreation.
